Going solar in New Jersey starts with understanding your property and how you use electricity. A shaded residential roof, a larger commercial building, and a property with space for a ground-mounted system each call for a different approach. Our New Jersey work ranges from family homes to a 1.31 MW rooftop system on Americold Logistics’ cold-storage facility in Vineland. Our engineers evaluate roof condition, available space, shading, and electricity use to design a system around your needs and explain what you can expect it to produce.
Local experience makes a big difference in that process. After more than two decades of installing solar in New Jersey, our team understands the permitting and utility approval requirements that shape each project, including those of PSE&G, JCP&L, and Atlantic City Electric. Our in-house team handles design, permitting, utility coordination, and installation, giving you a consistent point of contact and experienced support from your initial proposal through system activation.
Put your roof to work producing electricity for your household. We design each system around the home and explain what you can expect from its performance.
Explore solar for your business, school, nonprofit, or other facility. Rooftops, parking areas, and available land can offer opportunities to generate electricity on-site.
Get help with system issues, repairs, and ongoing maintenance. We also review service requests from property owners whose systems were installed by another company.
Understanding solar savings in New Jersey means looking at the full picture. We’ll explain how your system’s production, net-metering credits, and applicable SREC-II incentives contribute to its value, then help you compare your payment options, including a cash purchase, solar loan, prepaid lease, or power purchase agreement (PPA). We’ll walk through the costs, ownership responsibilities, and expected remaining utility bill for each option, so you can decide with confidence, no pressure.
Exact Solar also advocates for clean energy policy at the local, state, and national levels because the decisions made in Trenton and Washington directly affect our customers’ electricity costs and access to solar. That involvement helps keep our guidance grounded in the programs and policies behind each project. Through This Week in Solar, we explore changes in energy policy, utility costs, and the solar industry, explaining what they could mean for New Jersey homeowners and businesses considering their next steps.
Electric rates, utility programs, and tax credits in New Jersey change often, and each change can affect what solar means for your home or organization. Our team follows these updates closely and explains them in plain terms, so you can understand how they apply to you.
Understand how net metering, SREC-IIs, and payment options affect the value of solar for a New Jersey home.
Review the state’s ADI program for current SREC-II incentive information, project eligibility, and registration requirements.
Learn about New Jersey’s net-metering and interconnection rules and how solar generation connects with your utility service.
Compare purchase and payment options, including who owns the system and who receives the solar incentives.
Consider which appliances you want to power during an outage and how those needs affect battery sizing.
Questions to ask about workmanship, warranties, communication, and ongoing support before choosing your solar installer.
See when an energy community bonus may apply to a New Jersey business, school, nonprofit, or house of worship.
Understand the demand charges on a commercial electric bill and how solar and batteries may help reduce them.
Our team is deeply involved in New Jersey communities through connections with organizations such as Sustainable Princeton and the Greater Atlantic City Chamber. We participate in local sustainability initiatives and business events, while supporting K–12 educational opportunities that introduce students to solar and renewable energy.
These relationships keep us connected to local residents, businesses, and schools as we work toward a more sustainable future. Exact Solar was also recognized in the 2026 Best of the Jersey Shore awards, and we’re grateful for the customers and community partners who continue to recommend our work.
Solar looks different for every property. Our solar installations across New Jersey include homes, schools, businesses, and community organizations, each with its own energy needs and reasons for going solar.
Extremely professional experience from beginning to end; everything done carefully and every concern and constraint taken into consideration. And communication was always fast and efficient. They did a beautiful job and we had no trouble whatsoever with permitting.

The company has quality people with OUTSTANDING customer service at every level, every step of the way. I was explained everything in detail, from start to finish, with as much detail as I needed to make the best decision for my situation.
- Anthony C. in Jamesburg, NJ
Exact Solar’s quote was among the best with straight-forward numbers and no hidden costs. They answered all my questions and provided insights into SREC pricing and long-term trends (which many installers don’t). I am extremely pleased with Exact Solar.

Yes. Exact Solar provides solar installation and service in all 21 New Jersey counties, from North and Metro Jersey through Central Jersey, the Jersey Shore, and South Jersey, and we’ve been installing solar across the state since 2005. See every county we serve on our service area map.
Look for an installer with local experience, its own installation crews rather than subcontractors, clear warranties, and a team that will service your system after it’s installed. Exact Solar has installed solar across New Jersey since 2005, and the same in-house team handles your design, permitting, installation, and long-term service. Read our guide to choosing a solar installer.
The cost depends on your system’s size, your roof or available land, the equipment you choose, and how you pay. Because every property is different, we start with a free estimate based on your home and electricity use. See what affects the cost of solar, or request your free estimate.
You can purchase your system with cash or a solar loan, choose a prepaid lease, or go solar through our solar power purchase agreement (PPA). Each option affects ownership, incentives, and your monthly costs differently, and our team will walk you through them side by side. Compare your payment options.
For many New Jersey homeowners, yes. Net metering, SREC-IIs, rising electricity rates, and flexible payment options can still make solar a strong long-term investment, though the answer depends on your property and how you use electricity. Our team will give you a clear estimate of the costs and savings for your home. Read our full breakdown.
New Jersey’s electric utilities, including PSE&G, JCP&L, and Atlantic City Electric, offer net metering for customer-owned solar systems. When your panels produce more electricity than you use, the extra power flows to the grid and you receive a credit on your bill, which offsets the electricity you draw from the grid at other times. Review New Jersey’s net-metering rules, or see how solar savings are calculated.
SREC-IIs are New Jersey’s solar renewable energy certificates for newer solar systems. Through the state’s Administratively Determined Incentive (ADI) program, an eligible system earns one SREC-II for every 1,000 kilowatt-hours it produces, at a fixed value set by the state for that type of project, adding value beyond your electricity savings. Systems must be registered with the program, and our team handles that paperwork for you. View the ADI program.
Yes. Our in-house team manages permitting with your municipality and the utility approval process, so you don’t have to coordinate those steps yourself. Because the same team handles every step, your project is never handed off to subcontractors, and we’ll keep you updated from design through system activation.
Yes. A home battery stores the electricity your panels produce so you can use it later, including for backup power during an outage. We can design battery storage into a new solar system and evaluate whether it can be added to an existing one. Learn about solar plus storage.
Yes. Through our Solar Orphan Service®, our service team reviews requests from New Jersey homeowners and businesses whose systems were installed by another company, including companies that are no longer in business. Learn about Solar Orphan Service®.
Yes. Solar panels generate electricity from daylight rather than heat, and they actually operate more efficiently in cool temperatures. New Jersey systems produce less during the shorter days of winter, so we design each system around its expected output over a full year rather than any single season.
Every project begins with a conversation. Our team will review your property, answer your questions, and explain your options for your New Jersey home or business, so you can decide on next steps without pressure.
Solid Rock Baptist Church
2025
Exact Solar installed a 248 kW rooftop installation for Solid Rock Baptist Church in Berlin, NJ. It was an excellent installation with no issues to report. They were a great customer to work with, and they have already introduced us to 2 other affiliated churches in New Jersey to help them go solar with similar projects.
Princeton Design Guild
2023
Princeton Design Guild, a New Jersey architect/custom home builder, wanted to go solar on its main building. In 2023, they contacted us to design and install a 62.4 kW system.
