Our story began with a workshop, a trip to Central America, and a desire to make a difference. In 2004, our co-founder Mark Bortman attended a renewable energy workshop just outside of Philadelphia. Inspired by the potential of solar, he tucked the idea away as he and his family set off on a year-long adventure in Costa Rica. There, Mark and his wife Dara met Bruce Carey, a solar pioneer, and began helping him install solar thermal pool heating systems.
Upon returning to the U.S., they saw an opportunity to bring solar pool heating to the local market. What started with a single customer quickly grew into something much bigger. Though solar PV systems were costly back then, advancements in technology and government incentives eventually made solar more accessible, allowing us to expand our offerings.
