National Solar Tour 2026: See Solar in Action This Weekend

Thinking about solar but still have questions? This weekend, you can hear directly from people who have already made the switch.

The American Solar Energy Society’s National Solar Tour takes place October 2–4, 2026, giving visitors a chance to see solar installations, meet their owners, and learn what living with solar is actually like.

It’s one of our favorite events of the year at Exact Solar, and we’re very proud to continue our sponsorship. There’s something valuable about standing outside a home with solar panels on the roof and asking the person who lives there, “How has this worked out for you?”

Whether you’re ready to explore solar for your own home or just curious about how it works, there are several ways to participate. You can visit an Exact Solar customer in Doylestown, find another tour near you, or explore our collection of solar tours online.

Visit Curt Sawyer’s Solar Home in Doylestown

One of Exact Solar’s own customers, Curtis Sawyer, is opening his Doylestown home for an in-person solar tour this Saturday.

Here’s when and where to visit:

  • Date: Saturday, October 3, 2026
  • Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET
  • Location: Doylestown, Pennsylvania
  • Address and registration: Find Curt’s listing on the National Solar Tour map for the address and RSVP details.

Curt’s home shows how solar can support more than the lights and appliances inside a house. His home is fully electrified, and both he and his wife drive electric vehicles.

To help meet those electricity needs, Curt has a 21.36-kilowatt solar energy system. His installation is larger than many home solar systems, reflecting how much of his household runs on electricity.

Curt also says he receives payments from his electric utility for surplus solar production. That’s part of his experience with a system designed around his home’s energy needs. Your own results would depend on your electricity use, system size, and utility’s billing rules.

If you’re considering solar alongside an electric vehicle or other electric upgrades, his tour is a chance to ask someone who already lives with that combination.

What Can You Learn on a Solar Tour?

Researching solar online can help you understand the equipment and terminology. Talking with someone who has solar adds another perspective: what the process and day-to-day experience actually look like.

You can ask about the decisions they made, what surprised them, and what they wish they had known before installation.

Not sure where to start? Here are a few questions to bring:

  • What made you decide to go solar?
  • How did you choose your solar installer?
  • What was the installation process like?
  • How have your electric bills changed?
  • How much maintenance has your system needed?
  • What advice would you give someone considering solar today?

You don’t need to know the technical terms or arrive with a detailed plan. The tour is an opportunity to learn, ask questions, and hear firsthand experiences in a relaxed setting.

Find a Solar Tour Near You or Participate Online

Curt’s open house is one way to participate, but the National Solar Tour reaches well beyond Doylestown.

Whether you live in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or another part of the country, you can use the National Solar Tour map to explore participating locations and find in-person or virtual tours.

Check each listing for its format, schedule, and registration information before making plans.

Already have a busy weekend? You can still hear from solar owners on your own schedule.

Over the last four years, Exact Solar has created video tours and interviews featuring customers across our region. They share why they chose solar, what the installation experience was like, and how their systems fit into their lives.

Hear About Solar From the People Who Live With It

We’re grateful to everyone who has taken the time to share their experience, whether by welcoming visitors in person or sitting down with us for a video interview.

Their stories help make solar easier to understand. They also give people considering solar a chance to hear the questions, decisions, and experiences behind an installation.

If you’re near Doylestown, stop by Curt’s home on Saturday, October 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET. If you can’t make it, explore Exact Solar’s tour collection whenever you have time.

Bring your questions. There’s plenty to learn from a neighbor who has already gone solar!
