Our mission is to be a part of creating a living environment that meets people’s inherent needs, encourages the human spirit and preserves the planet’s resources for future generations.
Dara Bortman, Exact Solar
For Exact Solar, our business is helping Pennsylvania and New Jersey homeowners and businesses become more energy self-sufficient. Yet, our ultimate goal is to have a greater impact beyond moving our region away from fossil fuels. As a values-driven company, we see it is our duty to participate in ways to build our community. When possible, we join organizations and use our direct membership to engage, to offer our expertise, and to share our views.
We encourage everyone to join us in making our part of the greater Philadelphia area a better place for all. Take a look at some of our favorite organizations.
Energy & Environmental Policy and Advocacy
Local, state, and federal policy are very often the cornerstone in affecting positive change. And worthwhile policy requires the voice of the people. Here are those whose impact we feel is significant:
The Pennsylvania chapter of the Sierra Club is the only member-led statewide environmental organization in Pennsylvania with nine active regional groups all across the state. The most notable program is the “Ready for 100” campaign, seeking 100% renewable energy use. Exact Solar participates a great deal in the Bucks County chapter.
For more than 60 years the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) has advocated for 100% renewable energy and sustainable living. The non-profit shares information, events and resources to cultivate community and power progress in the U.S. and beyond.
The Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) is decades old non-profit and non-partisan advocacy group. The organization promotes stabilizing the global climate, building defenses against extreme weather, ensuring food security and abundant oceans, and reducing exposure to air pollution and toxic chemicals.

Community Building
Building our local community takes more than advocating for smart policies. Improving the health and well-being of our friends and neighbors requires participating in a larger variety of efforts to move us all towards fully sustainable living. Here are a few programs we recommend for you:
Corporate Participation
Working with our customers in Pennsylvania and New Jersey keeps up pretty busy. Still, Exact Solar and our employees make it a priority to find time to give back to the community. Here are just a few examples of how we participate with different organizations with the aim of making life in our communities more sustainable and therefore more enjoyable:
