Exact Solar Named as Solarize Philly Community Installer

The Sustainable Business Network (SBN) and the Clean Air Council have teamed up to sponsor the Solarize Philly community solar program.  The aim is to build a city-wide coalition of community organizations and Philadelphia homeowners and to meet the city’s ambitious solar energy goals outlined in the Green Works Plan while reducing the cost of going solar for Philadelphia homeowners. Exact Solar has been selected to be one of the local solar installers for the initiative.
The initial phase of Solarize Philly is for homeowners in the Mt. Airy, Germantown, and Chestnut Hill neighborhoods of North West Philadelphia. Workshops within the community will provide homeowners with information about the benefits of going solar. A hyper-localized, neighborhood approach enhances the program’s ability to educate and to save homeowners money. When neighbors decide to go solar together, economies of scale allow our group of locally based solar installers to offer discounts.
SBN’s Executive Director, Jamie Gauthier, stated of the program,  “Going solar collectively has a benefit to homeowners as the economies of scale of group purchasing significantly reduces installation costs which save homeowners money. Additionally, solar reduces the need for our homes to be powered by electricity sources that pollute our air and water.”
Solarize Philly community partners like Weaver’s Way Coop, Lovett Library, Germantown United CDC, the Germantown Sustainability Network and the Germantown Life Enrichment Center (GLEC) will help kick off the first neighborhood solarize campaign in the Mt. Airy, Germantown, and Chestnut Hill neighborhoods of North West Philadelphia. Community members can sign up for a workshop to learn more about how going solar can benefit your wallet, environment, and community!
