Yardley Voice – Going Green Solar Column – December 2015
Submitted by Sarah Bergen, Blogger/Publicist, Exact Solar
The winter months in the Northeast can get gloomy, but the holiday season also brings the joy of savory meals with friends and family, and of course – giving gifts. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of Black Friday sales, but don’t forget the true meaning of the holidays – to appreciate what you have and to give to others who are not so fortunate.
Consider donating to these charities that are working to protect our planet and create solutions for sustainable living:
- Solar Electric Light Fund (SELF) is a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit that works to design and implement creative solar energy solutions to uplift communities around the world. Projects range from solar-powered refrigeration and irrigation systems to simply providing light so children can complete their homework in the late hours of the night. Visit SELF.org to support their current missions.
- PennEnvironment is a citizen-based environmental advocacy group that is working to protect Pennsylvania’s beautiful ecosystems and all of their inhabitants. The organization focuses on many efforts including keeping natural gas drilling away from the Delaware River and promoting the expansion of solar energy in the state. Consider donating at PennEnvironment.org to preserve Pennsylvania’s land, rivers and air for years to come.
- Clean Water Fund is a nonprofit working to ensure that all Americans have clean water to drink and clean air to breathe. The organization’s projects span across 20 states, and include efforts to reduce industry air pollution and promote a clean energy economy. Give the gift of clean water and pollutant-free air this year at CleanWaterFund.org.
Consider making a sustainable donation to one of these organizations this holiday season!
