Named Philly’s Favorite Solar Installer, Best of Philly, and a Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia honoree, with hundreds of five-star customer reviews across the region.
Exact Solar has installed solar energy systems throughout Greater Philadelphia for more than two decades. During that time, our team has worked with homeowners, businesses, schools, and nonprofit organizations to design systems that generate electricity directly from their properties.
Every solar installation is carefully designed around the property and the customer's energy needs. From historic row homes and twins to detached homes and commercial buildings, each project requires a thoughtful approach. Our team evaluates roof layout, electrical infrastructure, and long-term electricity usage to develop a system that performs reliably for decades.
Our team also manages permitting, utility interconnection, and installation from start to finish. Because our installation crews work entirely in-house, you'll work with the same experienced team from your initial consultation through installation and long-term system support.
Exact Solar designs and installs custom residential solar systems for homeowners throughout Philadelphia. Each system is engineered to match the structure of the home and the household’s electricity usage.
Our team takes care of the entire process, including system design, permitting, installation, and utility interconnection. Whether your home is a historic Philadelphia row home, a twin, or a detached property, we’ll design a system that fits your roof and your energy goals.
Many homeowners choose solar as a way to produce their own electricity, reduce long-term utility costs, and gain greater control over future energy expenses.
Exact Solar is an official installer partner of Solarize Greater Philadelphia, led by the Philadelphia Energy Authority and Philadelphia Green Capital Corp. Building on the original Solarize Philly program, this regional initiative helps more homeowners and businesses access solar through vetted installers and established consumer protections.
For Philadelphia property owners, the program provides a trusted starting point for exploring solar. Choosing an installer is a significant decision, and Solarize Greater Philadelphia connects residents with participating companies selected through the program’s screening process. Exact Solar is among the program’s official residential installer partners
Our participation also includes work with Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia at Coltrane Commons, where we installed rooftop solar for five affordable homes. Projects like these demonstrate how local partnerships can bring clean energy and lower electricity costs to more Philadelphia families.
Exact Solar frequently works with businesses, schools, congregations, and nonprofit organizations throughout Greater Philadelphia to install commercial solar energy systems.
Commercial solar installations can help organizations manage long-term electricity costs while producing renewable energy on-site. Our engineering team evaluates each building’s structure, electrical infrastructure, and energy usage patterns to design a system that aligns with the needs of the facility.
Exact Solar is also one of the few solar installers in Pennsylvania approved as a COSTARS supplier, allowing public agencies, schools, and municipalities to work with us through the Commonwealth’s cooperative purchasing program.
Solar systems can be installed on rooftops, parking structures, or ground-mounted arrays depending on the layout of the property.
One of our favorite Philadelphia projects is Coltrane Commons, a Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia development that brought solar energy to five affordable homes in the city.
Working through the Solarize Philly program, Habitat partnered with Exact Solar to design and install a 17.6 kW solar energy system that helps reduce electricity costs for future homeowners while producing clean, renewable energy right where it’s needed.
You can take a closer look at the project and learn more about the installation in our Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia case study and solar tour.

Exact Solar has been part of the Greater Philadelphia community for more than two decades. Our connections here extend beyond the homes and businesses where we install solar. Through local partnerships, educational events, and community initiatives, we help more people learn about clean energy and the opportunities it can create.
That involvement takes many forms, from working with schools and nonprofit organizations to supporting workforce development and participating in regional business groups. Our team brings the same focus on education and personal relationships to this work that we bring to every solar project.
One way we put that commitment to education into practice is through the Philadelphia Solar Energy Association (PSEA), where Exact Solar sales engineer David Hammes serves on the board. We have sponsored PSEA’s Junior Solar Sprint at Drexel University for the past several years, where Philadelphia-area students designed and raced solar-powered model cars. Dave helped coordinate the races and manage the finish line as students put their creativity and engineering skills to the test.
Our team also attended Sun Day Philly at LOVE Park in September 2025. With hands-on activities, solar demonstrations, and opportunities to learn together, the event brought neighbors and local organizations together to celebrate solar energy and explore its role in Philadelphia’s future.
Exact Solar has partnered with numerous organizations, including Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia, OIC Philadelphia, the Philadelphia School, ASPIRA Bilingual Cyber Charter School, and the Philadelphia Energy Authority through Solarize Philly. We’ve also participated in educational events like the American Solar Energy Society’s National Solar Tour and continue supporting workforce development and clean energy education throughout the region. The Philadelphia Inquirer readers have recognized Exact Solar as one of the area’s favorite solar installers, and we’ve been honored with the Greater Philadelphia Civic 50 award four times for our commitment to giving back to the communities we serve.
Although Exact Solar is based in Newtown, our team regularly installs solar systems throughout Philadelphia.

Yes. PECO allows homes and businesses to install solar energy systems and participate in Pennsylvania’s net metering program. Net metering allows solar customers to receive credit for excess electricity their system produces and sends back to the grid, helping offset future electricity usage.
Philadelphia is well suited for solar energy systems. Many homes and businesses in the area have roof layouts and electricity usage patterns that make solar a strong long-term energy solution.
Factors such as roof orientation, shading, available roof space, and electricity usage all play a role in determining how much energy a system can produce. During your consultation, our team will evaluate your property and determine whether solar is a good fit for your home or business.
Yes. Many Philadelphia row homes are excellent candidates for solar. Our team designs systems around available roof space, fire code requirements, roof condition, and your home’s electrical infrastructure to maximize production whenever possible.
The cost of a solar installation depends on several factors, including the size of the system, the structure of the roof, and how much electricity the property uses. Every solar system Exact Solar installs is custom-designed based on the home or building and the customer’s energy needs. Our team provides detailed proposals so homeowners and businesses in Philadelphia can clearly understand the expected cost and performance of their system.
There are several different ways to pay for solar depending on your goals and budget. Payment options can include purchasing a system outright with cash, financing through a solar loan, or choosing programs such as a solar lease or power purchase agreement (PPA) that allow customers to install solar with no upfront cost.
Exact Solar works with customers throughout Philadelphia to help them understand the available options and choose the approach that best fits their financial goals.
To learn more about the different payment options available, visit our Paying for Solar page.
The payback period for solar systems varies depending on electricity usage, system size, and utility rates. Many of our customers begin seeing meaningful savings within the first several years, while their system continues to produce electricity for decades.
When you receive your free solar estimate, our team will analyze your electricity usage and design a custom system for your property. Your proposal will include an estimate of the system’s expected performance, savings, and projected payback period so you can clearly understand the long-term financial benefits.
Solar systems are typically designed to offset a significant portion of a home or business’s electricity usage. The amount of savings depends on factors such as energy consumption, system size, and future electricity rates.
Many of our customers choose solar as a way to reduce their long-term dependence on utility power while stabilizing their electricity costs over time.
For many homeowners and businesses in Philadelphia, solar can be a worthwhile long-term investment. Electricity rates in the region have steadily increased, and solar allows property owners to generate their own power and reduce their reliance on utility electricity over time.
The overall value of solar depends on factors such as electricity usage, roof layout, and system size. When you request an estimate, our team will evaluate your property and provide projections for system production, energy savings, and expected payback period so you can clearly see whether solar makes sense for your home or business.
If you’re considering solar energy for your home or business in Philadelphia or anywhere in the Greater Philadelphia region, Exact Solar offers free consultations to help you explore your options.
